چکیده

Millions of tons bottom ash (BA) is generated from incineration industrial and municipal solid waste each year within EU. The magnitude leaching metals like Cu Zn critical for hazard risk assessment these ashes. Although speciation a key factor to understand predict metal leaching, in BA not well known. In this study six separated carbonized were investigated by combination X-ray absorption spectroscopy, diffraction, leaching/extraction tests, geochemical modelling. Five the grate boilers one fluidized bed incinerator. aims identify similarities main species. several techniques was necessary draw conclusions about displayed coherent results. A similar indicated five studied boiler ashes although proportions between species may vary. Copper(II) oxide all BA. Zinc(II) willemite (Zn2SiO4) identified contained Zn-Si-minerals possibly franklinite or gahnite, while Zn(II) content low, if any. results have implications classification MIBA.

Distribution of Chloride in Municipal Solid Waste Incineration Bottom Ash

Chloride content is a critical problem for the reuse of incineration bottom ash as raw material in cement. The effect of dechlorination procedure largely depends on the existence form of the chlorides. However, limited information about the distribution and identity of chlorides in bottom ash can be obtained by bulk analysis methods. In this paper, the investigation towards a more comprehensive...

LCA of metal recovery from waste incineration bottom ash

The important role gained by waste incineration in European waste management systems is recently clashing with increasing concerns about loss of resources in waste, i.e. metals. Even though the recovery of valuable resources in residues from waste incineration is becoming a widespread practice, a significant portions of valuables resources remains in the ash and ends up in disposal sites. The g...

Characterization of Bottom Ash, Fly Ash, and Filter Cake Produced from Hazardous Waste Incineration

in this study, the chemical characterization of solid residues, i.e., bottom ash, fly ash, and filter cake, produced from the izmit hazardous and Clinical waste incineration Plant (izAyDAS) was investigated. the izAyDAS is located in the city of kocaeli in turkey and it has been in use since 1997. Several parameters were measured, including AoX, Cl-, CN-, So4 2and selected heavy metals includin...

Effect of Mass Proportion of Municipal Solid Waste Incinerator Bottom Ash Layer to Municipal Solid Waste Layer on the Cu and Zn Discharge from Landfill

Municipal solid waste incinerator (MSWI) bottom ash is often used as the protection layer for the geomembrane and intermediate layer in the landfill. In this study, three sets of simulated landfills with different mass proportion of MSWI bottom ash layer to municipal solid waste (MSW) layer were operated. Cu and Zn concentrations in the leachates and MSW were monitored to investigate the effect...

Municipal Solid Waste Incineration Bottom Ash: Characterization and Kinetic Studies of Organic Matter

Bottom ash is the main solid residue (in weight) which is produced by municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) facilities. To be reused in public works, it has to be stored previously a few months. This material is composed primarily of a mineral matrix but also contains unburnt organic matter. The mineral content and its change in the course of aging are relatively well-known, in contrast wit...
